The Nocturnists is looking for a Social Media Manager.

Who We Are:

The Nocturnists is a live storytelling event series and podcast where physicians and other health workers share personal stories about life in medicine. By highlighting physician stories, we participate in a process of collective catharsis, build a culture of community and safety, de-stigmatize physician vulnerability, and spark dialogue about the complex challenges inherent in our jobs, all of which contribute to physician wellness. In addition, we build bridges between the medical community and the general public, who learn more about who their doctors are, and how their minds work.

Who You Are:

We are looking for a team member who will manage The Nocturnists’ social media presence, specifically our Twitter and Facebook accounts. We are looking for someone who is interested in the intersection
between art and medicine (though no health care experience is required), and who can commit to tweeting or retweeting relevant content at least once a day. Our ideal candidate is fluent in social media, is a skilled writer, thoughtful curator, and is proactive, organized, and reliable. We hope to find someone who will shape our overall social media strategy as we prepare to produce more live events and launch season 2 of our podcast. If you join our team, you can expect a warm environment of mentorship and career support.

This is a 6 month-long role (Jan-July 2019) with an expected time commitment of approximately 2 hours/week. The role comes with a stipend of $500. A bonus is possible for those who demonstrate extraordinary leadership. We accept both local and remote applicants.

Currently The Nocturnists is produced in San Francisco. If you have connections to the medical community there, we'd love your help circulating calls for submissions so we can recruit a more diverse panel of speakers. Keep in mind, we're not just interested in stories from doctors -- we'd love to feature stories from nurses, physical therapists, hospital administrators, etc. Time commitment: 2 hours/event.

Web design assistant

Do you have web design skills? Help us improve the look and content of our website and solicit feedback from readers/listeners. Experience with Squarespace preferred. Time commitment: 2 hours/month.

Fundraising lead

We require funds so that we can produce the best content possible for our audience. Do you have fundraising experience? Are you good at moving people to action? Help us identify and apply for grants, and solicit donations from audience members who feel passionate about our mission. Time commitment: 2 hours/week.

Business development lead

Have you ever started a company? Do you understand the ins and outs of how to start and grow a non-profit organization? We'd love your help as we try to ensure The Nocturnists is financially sustainable. Time commitment: 2 hours/week.

Musically inclined and live in the Bay Area? Come play music at one of our next events! Time commitment: 4 hours/event.
