The Nocturnists Satellites Program

The Nocturnists Satellites is an opportunity for clinicians and clinician groups to access support from The Nocturnists in producing their own live storytelling shows. 

By partnering with people and organizations across the country to foster community-based storytelling, we hope to amplify the movement we’ve been building over the last eight years—to support wellbeing and connection through artistic expression.

Eligible Participants: 

  • Academic medical centers (e.g. medical schools and student groups, residency programs, Graduate Medical Education departments, clinical departments)

  • Healthcare delivery organizations (e.g. Kaiser, Sutter, Care New England)

  • Small clinics or other independent health organizations

Please note: Satellites partners will need to designate a team lead or champion who will spearhead the event in their community.

What Satellite Participants Will Receive: 

  • Two password-protected proprietary toolkits

    • How-To Put on a Nocturnists Satellite Show: includes sample budgets, suggestions for fundraising, advice on how to find storytellers and coaches, how to find a venue and musicians, how to record shows, day-of logistics, etc.

    • Coaching Guide: The Nocturnists proprietary coaching guide which includes process and recommendations for how to bring alive clinicians’ personal stories 

  • Two remote coaching “StoryLab” sessions with our Nocturnists expert coaches

    • “Coach the Coaches” session where our Nocturnists producers meet with the partner organizations’ coaches to orient them to the coaching process

    • “Introduction to Storytelling” session with all the storytellers to introduce the principles of oral storytelling

  • Access to regular “Nocturnists office hours” with Alison Block, Executive Producer of The Nocturnists and our expert Story Coaches where we welcome questions about: 

    • The Nocturnists, principles of storytelling, general Q&A, logistics/planning

    • Troubleshooting with participants who are running into specific issues with their event or storytellers

  • Option for one-on-one story coaching for an additional hourly fee

  • Promotion of your event through The Nocturnists communications channels

    • At least one mention in all our social media channels

    • At least one mention in our weekly newsletter promoting your event

  • Ability to brand/advertise your event as a “Nocturnists Satellite” show

Expectations for Satellite Participants:

  • Participants will keep our proprietary materials confidential

  • Participants will record their storytelling show, and share this audio with The Nocturnists. [Note: this does not have to be a professional-quality recording, but must be audible and clearly listenable!] 

  • Participants will share their storytellers’ names and contact information with The Nocturnists so that we may consider inviting individual storytellers to develop their work further with our creative team

  • The Nocturnists Satellites information and logo will be included on all materials and communications associated with Satellite events
